The Chapter I Never Imagined

The Chapter I Never Imagined

When I was in my 20s, I had no idea what my future would look like.

I never imagined that decades later, I would still be dancing, teaching Hip Hop to the next generation, building a career in real estate, and becoming an author of my first book, Press Record: How To Connect With Confidence On Camera.

If someone had told my younger self this would be my life, I probably would have been surprised.

But looking back, I realize something important: every chapter of my life prepared me for the next one.

The stage was where I first learned how to handle pressure, connect with an audience, and trust myself. I never realized those same skills would later help me stand in front of a camera, walk into a real estate appointment, or write a book encouraging others to find their own voice.

Opening and running my own dance studio in Japan taught me something even deeper.

It taught me how to communicate beyond just words.

Living and working in a different culture challenged me to understand people from a different perspective. I learned that communication is not only about speaking the same language, it’s about listening, adapting, and finding a way to truly connect with people.

Those lessons have followed me throughout my journey.

Teaching young dancers reminded me that our influence is not measured only by what we accomplish, but by the people we inspire along the way.

Real Estate taught me connection, trust, and the importance of showing up for people during some of their biggest life decisions.

And writing Press Record brought everything together, the performer, the teacher, the entrepreneur, and the woman who believes that confidence is something we build through action.

For many women, especially as we enter our 40s and 50s, there can be moments when we wonder if our biggest opportunities have already passed. We look back at what we used to dream about, what we put on hold, or the versions of ourselves we thought we had outgrown.

But life has a beautiful way of reminding us that we are not finished becoming.

Age does not take away our ability to create. It gives us more experience, more wisdom, and a deeper understanding of who we are.

The woman you become later in life is not a replacement for who you were before. She carries every lesson, every challenge, every passion, and every dream that came before her.

Your next chapter does not have to look like anyone else’s.

Maybe it’s starting a new career.
Maybe it’s finally sharing your voice.
Maybe it’s returning to something you loved but left behind.
Maybe it’s discovering a passion you never had time for before.

The beautiful thing about life is that there is no deadline for growth.

I am still dancing. I am still teaching. I am still learning. I am still creating.

And I am grateful that the woman I am today gets to experience things my younger self could only imagine.

Your story is still being written.

Keep showing up for it.

Why Press Record Is Different

7/10/2026

There are countless books that teach social media strategy, video editing, content calendars, and personal branding. Those resources have their place, but many women never reach the point where those tools become useful.

The real challenge often appears much earlier.

It happens in the quiet moment before you hit the record button. The hesitation. The second-guessing. The internal dialogue that asks whether you're saying it the right way, looking the right way, or whether anyone wants to hear what you have to say in the first place.

For many women over 40, the obstacle isn't a lack of knowledge or expertise. It's the discomfort of being seen.
Traditional advice tends to sound simple enough: Just be yourself. Be authentic. People want to see the real you.

While well-intentioned, that advice often leaves women feeling more frustrated than empowered.

Because what usually follows is overthinking every word, replaying every pause, noticing every imperfection, and eventually deciding the video is better left unpublished.
Confidence on camera rarely appears overnight simply because someone gives you permission to "be yourself."

Confidence is built through structure, repetition, and skill development.
That is the philosophy behind Press Record.

As a professional dancer and choreographer for more than two decades, I've never expected a beginner to walk into a studio and perform effortlessly. We don't ask someone to step onto the dance floor and magically know what to do. We teach the fundamentals, provide guidance, create a framework, and allow confidence to grow through practice.

Your Video works the same way.

Being comfortable on camera is not a personality trait reserved for extroverts, influencers, or younger generations who grew up online. It is a skill that can be learned, refined, and strengthened over time.

The goal was never perfection.

The goal is helping experienced, accomplished women share their expertise with greater ease, greater confidence, and a stronger sense of ownership over their voice.

Because your knowledge deserves to be heard long before you feel "ready."
Sometimes the most important step is simply pressing record.

The Real Challenge Isn’t The Technology

Everyone thinks the hardest part of creating video content is the camera. I found out that’s not true.

I asked a group of real estate agents what was holding them back from creating video content.

Not one person mentioned the camera, lighting, setup, or editing.

The real challenge isn’t the technology. It’s trusting yourself enough to press record.

Here’s one thing to try today: Press Record with no intention of posting it.

Take the pressure off. The goal is to get comfortable seeing and yourself on camera.

Confidence comes from repetition.

Pressing Record: My Journey to Confidence On and Off Camera

If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that confidence isn’t a fixed trait—it’s something you build, refine, and step into over time. Just like dance, the more you practice, the easier it gets.

From Stage Lights to Studio Floors

My story began long before real estate or coaching. I’ve spent over 25 years in the world of dance and performance. From performing on television in the Philippines and Japan to training in Los Angeles and New York, I’ve lived in spaces where expression, timing, and presence matter deeply.

Eventually, I built my own dance studio, where I taught thousands of students. My focus was never just choreography — it was confidence. Watching someone transform from hesitant to fully expressive on stage is something I never take for granted.

That experience shaped everything I do today.

The Unexpected Challenge

While building my real estate career, I discovered something surprising.

Confidence on stage doesn’t automatically translate to confidence in creating video content.

Even with decades of performance experience, I found myself overthinking simple videos. I worried about judgment. I edited and re-edited in my head before I even pressed record. I told myself it needed to be perfect before it could be published.

And that’s when I realized something important: I wasn’t alone in this.

The Pattern I Couldn’t Ignore

As I started talking with other business owners and entrepreneurs, I noticed the same hesitation repeated again and again.

Brilliant, capable, experienced people were holding back — not because they lacked knowledge, but because video felt different. More personal. More exposed. More permanent.

They weren’t lacking expertise. They were navigating visibility.

That realization changed everything for me.

Why I Wrote Press Record

That journey became the foundation of my book, Press Record: How To Connect with Confidence On Camera.

I didn’t write it from a place of having everything figured out. I wrote it from experience, both as a performer and as someone who had to relearn confidence in a new arena.

I drew from decades of performing, teaching, and working on camera to create a simple framework that helps women show up confidently without feeling like they need to become influencers or chase trends.

Because not everyone wants to “perform” online.

Most people just want to show up as themselves—clearly, confidently, and authentically.

What I Teach Today

Today, my work focuses on helping entrepreneurs build comfort and confidence on camera through coaching programs, workshops, and my book.

My approach blends performance tools, confidence-building exercises, and practical video strategies that help people stop overthinking and start showing up.

We don’t focus on becoming someone else.

We focus on removing the pressure that keeps you stuck.

Real Estate, Dance, and Everything In Between

Whether I’m teaching dance, helping clients navigate real estate, or coaching women to show up on camera with confidence, the thread is always the same:

Helping people step into their confidence and take action.

Every space I’ve worked in has reinforced this truth, confidence is built through action, not perfection.

Final Thoughts

If there’s anything I hope you take from my journey, it’s this:

You don’t need to wait until you feel ready to show up.

You don’t need to be perfect to be impactful.

And you don’t need to become someone else to be seen.

You just need to Press Record and keep it simple.

I’m excited to continue sharing this journey, connecting with everyone. We all have stories worth telling and I’m grateful to be in a space where those stories can grow.

See you in the journey ahead.

What Makes Press Record Different

There are plenty of books about social media marketing, video editing, and building your personal brand.

This isn't one of those books. This book isn't about algorithms, equipment, or going viral. It's about the thing that stops you before you even get to those questions: the fear of pressing record.

Focus On Practicing

If the red record button still makes you freeze, start here.

Maybe you're worried about your outfit. Maybe you're thinking about what people will say. Maybe you just don't know where to begin.

Instead of focusing on posting, focus on practicing.

Press record. Talk to the camera. Then stop. That's it.

Just get comfortable seeing yourself on screen and hearing your own voice. Like learning a new dance routine, confidence comes from repetition, not perfection.

Press Record today even if nobody sees it but you. Every video you don't post is still practice for the one you will. Film yourself everyday for 7 days then watch your video 1 and video 7 back to back. Let me know the difference.

Press Record Workshop June 16, 2026

6/16/2026

As someone who spent years performing on stage, I’ve learned that confidence isn’t something you’re simply born with. It’s something you build—through repetition, experience, and the decision to keep showing up even when it feels uncomfortable.

That’s the foundation behind the Press Record Workshop and my book, Press Record: How To Connect With Confidence on Camera.

Most people don’t need more information. They already know what to say. What holds them back is everything that happens right before they press record. Overthinking, judgment, hesitation, what to wear, hair and make-up, camera set-up.

The goal of this workshop was to bring you back to the basics. How to show up on camera without overthinking.
